5 mistakes small teams make when managing projects
CS
A small team can often get by with improvisation - until suddenly it cannot. Here are five mistakes that appear most often in small teams, and why it pays to deal with them before the team grows.
1. Work scattered across five tools
E-mail for communication, WhatsApp for quick questions, Excel for deadlines, a shared drive for files. Nobody is sure where the current information is - and searching costs time every single day.
2. No clear owner of a task
"Somebody should do it" often means "nobody will do it" in practice. Without clearly assigned responsibility, tasks get lost between people.
3. Everyone sees everything
In a small team this does not matter at the start. But as the team grows (or a temp joins for one project), sharing everything becomes a risk - needlessly, because it can be set up differently.
4. The history of decisions exists only in people's heads
Why something changed, who decided it, when - without a record nobody can piece it together three months later. Work then gets needlessly repeated.
5. Support and problems are handled ad hoc
Without a clear place to report a problem or ask for help, requests end up scattered across e-mails - and waiting for an answer takes longer than it has to.
How to get out of it
The solution is not another separate tool for each of these things, but one place where projects, tasks, team roles and support are together - exactly what we built KoraGate for.
